Lillianna Samantha Sardone was raised in upstate New York, born into a rich family who were always busy, but still tried to have time for her. Her father was a CEO of a stockbroking company, and her mother was a British model. He cheated on her mother constantly, and Lillianna was the only one who knew. Well, her and her younger brother, who was the third oldest in the line of five soon-to-be-billionaires, considering their father was getting quite old. Lillianna was the eldest, and she hated it more than anything. Her mother hired nannies to take care of all of the kids, and as soon as one of the ladies would try to deal with any of them, Lillianna would snap and send her off. She felt like it was her duty to take care of her younger siblings, even though she would rather be alone. Lillianna didn't trust any of them, and hated her parents for doing so.

When Lillianna was twelve, she began showing signs of having a severe eating disorder, yet nobody realized other than her younger brother, Charlie. She would gorge herself in food at dinners, and then excuse herself to the bathroom straight after to force herself to throw up. That wasn't the only strange behavior that Charlie noticed, though. She would sometimes eat a lot and then escape, or refuse to eat and then throw a fit when her mother tried to force her. She locked herself in her room multiple times and wouldn't come out. Still, her mother didn't get her checked out. One day, Charlie had gathered up enough money and took Lillianna with him on a bus, and went to their family doctor. She was diagnosed with bulimia, and begged her brother not to tell anybody else. So, being the trustworthy boy he was, he kept quiet.

Lillianna soon went into her goth phase, and shut the world out, even her brother. She alienated absolutely everyone in her life, and was constantly made fun of at school, but saved her emotions for late at night when she would cry - after taking off all the black makeup, of course. The girl refused treatment as well, and stayed closed off for many years.

Finally, she was out of there. She wanted to go to school in Mystic Falls (much to the dismay of her father, but that's why she wanted to go even more) and so she set off for Whitmore college, getting into a biology program. One day after class, Lillianna accidentally stumbled into a conversation between Dr. Whitmore and another professor, and hearing talk about Vampires confused her. It took a lot of convincing and swearing to secrecy, but she was finally let in on it, and studied the Augustine Vampires that were brought in for testing. She didn't know Enzo that well, but briefly remembered Dr. Whitmore talking about him and another Vampire, Damon.

At Whitmore's annual New Year's Eve party, everything changed. Lillianna didn't make it because she had a test the next day and was busy studying, but heard what happened in the morning. Everybody had died, and it was out of luck that she wasn't one of them. Still, the two Vampires managed to get out of there, and, as a tribute to Dr. Whitmore, Lillianna decided to hunt them down. The only one she could find was Enzo, and he seemed as lost and as lonely as ever. So, she pretended to like him, yet still began to have feelings for the man. She pushed them aside, though, and tried to focus on her plan. When he least expected it, she got him, and began testing for her own pleasures. Lillianna wanted to know what it was like to be a Vampire, and how to control the urges. It was frowned upon in Dr. Whitmore's clan of scientists and lab workers to be as curious as Lillianna was, and she had learned that early on. So she had kept shut about it until then, and tested Enzo on all the things she wanted to know. Eventually, Enzo fooled her and bit the woman, and when she woke up, she immediately drank a bag of human blood. She let him go, explaining how they could live their lives together as Vampires and stay young, but he snapped her neck and - when she awoke - he was gone. 

Lillianna set off to find Enzo after that, while also enjoying the perks of being a Vampire. Her bulimia was cured, and she was much brighter and happier. Lillianna traveled around, hoping to find Enzo again and try to rebuild what they had, eventually ending up back where they met. Mystic Falls. Yet, she couldn't go back in, and caught word that everyone had moved to Rosewood, PA. So, that's where she went, hopes still high.
